Gladys Ohia is from Umuahia, Abia state, but was raised at Jos the Plateau state capital and Port Harcourt.
She attended the LGPD primary school, Tudun Wada Jos before the family moved to Port Harcourt

Gladys Ohia where she had her secondary school and ended up at the University of Port Harcourt where she studied Political Science.

After her graduation in 2006, she started to look towards the realisation of her childhood dreams which is to feature on stage and screen.

This dream she has started realising “ I love showbizness from the bottom of my heart.

I have always loved acting that I wished I had a role in a star studded film or soap opera on television” she says.

She goes further to throw the bombshell that there is even sexual harassment in the church and our homes not to talk of Nollywood

From Childhood

I will say that I have always been an entertainer since I started growing up. I loved everything that had to do with entertainment.

I led the debating and drama group in my school as the social prefect. Before leaving secondary school, I was at a dilemma over which course of study to pursue in the University- Theater Arts and Political Science, but Political Science carried the day and here I am.

I reasoned that since acting and showbiz character flowed in me, I could gain more knowledge from studying a different course all together.

Mentors in Nollywood

My mentors are several, but I remember Solomon Apete, who was working with Amaco Productions. I also will include Zeb Ejiro. I equally looked up to the life of Mother Theresa for inspiration. In the movies, I was inspired by Joke Silva, Barbara Soky, Ronnie Dikko, Liz Benson.

In the new generation, Geneveive trips me so much just like I like to see RMD, Ramsey Nouah, Stella Damasus. When you look at these people, you get challenged to follow your passion and wade through the sea.
First movie

My first involvement in the Nigeria movie production circuit was in June 2007 at Asaba, Delta state. It was for an Ossy Affasson movie where we also had veterans like Chief Pete Edochie, Patience Ozokwor, Chioma Chukwuka, and a host of others.

The movie was called Blood Apart where I acted as some one's wife. It was not a major role but it was interesting. I have not been able to do more because of academic schedules and NYSC. But I will return soonest to pick up my place in the system.

Already, I have several soap opera jobs lined up including Secret and Lies by Zeb Ejiro and others.

I believe that dedication is the key to success and passion is the bedrock of my interest and I will be there on top like others. I believe this because I have always had the talents and passion since I was a little kid

Family

I come from a family of six, three girls and three boys and I am the last child. My father is late. He died when I was five and my mum saw us through. Just last year again, one of my elder sisters also died. So now we are only five children. My family members all know that I love acting and they pray for me to succeed .

They also encourage me so much since it is what I love to do. My mum calls me every blessed day to ask how I am and that keeps me very strong.

Sexual Harassment

I have heard so much about this but never experienced it my self. But I have also heard about it from other industries and wonder why it is blown up to proportions in showbiz arena. It is in every office and even in the church, at home..

What about women who harass men by their dressing?

I do not know about that. I don't think I have ever harassed any man by my dressing or attire.

Marriage?

I am not under pressure. Just taking my time. My family members do know this. But I know I will get married someday.

Kind of man

He must be God fearing who would understand me and look up to God for all things.
