Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first black president has finally joined the royal and the commoners alike in heaven. The most loved African president will surely be missed and the world in its entirety will mourn the man who touched so many lives in his lifetime. He's indeed, a hero to blacks and whites.

The former president battled health issues in recent months, including a recurring lung infection that led to numerous hospitalisations. He was pronounced mischievously dead more than three times until he finally bowed to death today.

"He is now resting. He is now at peace," Zuma said. "Our nation has lost its greatest son. Our people have lost a father." Rest in peace Madiba!

Meanwhile, president Obama, who said the deceased was one of the countless millions whom he drew inspiration from has sent his condolences.

“He gave me a sense of what human beings can do when they're guided by their hopes instead of by their fears. We have lost one of the most influential, courageous and profoundly good human beings that any of us will share time with," President Obama remembers the late icon.
