TONTO ROBBED AS ARTISTES STAGE PROTEST RALLY

By Nonye

Men of the underworld attacked the pretty screen diva, Tonto Dike.

Life and Beat gathered that the actress was returning from a location alongside her colleague, John Njamah, when the robbers struck.

Tonto, we learnt, said the incident was like something out of a James Bond movie.

“Three guys rushed down from a bike and attacked us. We didn't even know where they came from. Before we could say anything, they had taken our money, phones and many other things.”

It was as if robbers were actually out for them that day. Just as they left the scene of the incident, another set of robbers jumped at them.

“We had to tell those ones that their 'colleagues' had taken all we had and they miraculously left us.”

As a result of the increasing robbery attacks on artistes in recent times, most of them, last Monday, went on a protest rally.

The rally which had the likes of D'banj, Kunle Afolayan, Princess, Tee A, Ayo Animashaun, Dj Tee, Ego, Bisoye Fagade, Ayeni Adekunle, Howie T, Yinka Oyedeji, Wunmi Obe, Dekunle Fuji, Jesse King and Teju Baby face, was an attempt by the entertainment practitioners to make the government see reasons why Lagos state should be secured from armed robbers.

“We want the government to help us. Robbers are killing us. They're no longer satisfied with stealing and dispossessing us of our valuables. They've started to maim and kill. And it appears the police force is sleeping; it appears the government is looking the other way. It appears like no one cares. We are helpless, and that's why we're crying out for help before the situation gets completely out of hand,” cried Tee A, a foremost comedian who only few weeks back, escaped being shot by a gang of robbers.

The rally, according to sources, was the first in a series of planned actions by the coalition of aggrieved entertainment practitioners.
