The world's best footballer Lionel Messi has paid off a debt of about £4.2 million to Spanish authorities which made him risk a 6 year jail term after being accused in june for filling a false tax returns.

He and the father who were accused of the fraudulent act by the spanish authority paid the hefty sum to escape jail sentence.

He has been scheduled to appear at a hearing on September 17, but his lawyer has pleaded that the date be changed because of his clients engagement on that day.
