There was a brief stop in banking activities at the headquarters of Diamond Bank in Lagos, on Wednesday when some angry workers protested their termination of employment by the management of the bank.

Nollywoodgists.com gathered that the financial institution allegedly sacked over 2000 workers. The affected workers took laws into their hands as they allegedly damaged some properties of the bank during the protest.

Digs done by us revealed that Diamond bank has witnessed low patronage, which necessitated the downside of its workforce. The poor patronage allegedly caused the none payment of workers' salaries for over three months.

On Monday, the bank laid-off some staffs.

According to a source, who is one of the affected workers, said he has spent over five years with the bank and without prior notice was sent home on Monday.

"It was a surprise, I resumed as usual on Monday only to meet people at the office gates. It was posted on a board outside that some members of staffs should report to the head office immediately and my name was also included.

"On getting to the head office, we were asked to go home because our services were no longer needed. It was included in the letter that our entitlement would be calculated and sent to us by the end of the month. This is cruel," the source revealed.

A representative of the bank, through an e-mail sent to us, when contacted, only said, "the bank currently employs about 3000 full-time staff and approximately 5000 contract staff outsourced from various vendors.  These contract staff include secretaries, drivers, office assistants, technical crew, etc."

He kept mute on the Monday's sack of over 2000 workers by the bank.
