Activism: Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin Rewarded by Michelle Obama

For her great cause advocating for human rights, women's equality, and social progress in Nigeria, Africa as a whole, the popular Nigerian activist, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin has been rewarded by Mrs. Obama and the Secretary of States John Kerry in the US.

Odumakin who is the president of Campaign for Democracy was one of the 10 phenomenal women honored by Mrs. Obama and US Secretary of State, John Kerry, on Friday March 8th in the U.S.

She was presented with the Secretary of State's International Women of Courage Award by John Kerry and Michelle Obama at a ceremony held at the Dean Acheson Auditorium of the U.S. Department of State.

Dr. Joe also established Women Arise for Change Initiative, and the Secretary of state's International Women of Courage Awards is an annual event honoring extra-ordinary women around the world

For those who don't know, Dr. Joe's effort was well applauded during the last year's Occupy Nigeria subsidy protest.
