There are multiple reports that the city of Maiduguri is on fire as soldiers and the dreaded members of Islamic group, Boko Haram are engaging in a gun battle.

A news agency reported that about eight explosions were heard in some places in the volatile city. It is believed that some soldiers are raiding the hiding place of the Islamic sect.

The Boko Haram Islamic sect has been on a bomb rampage for some years now. Last Sunday in Bauchi, the group claimed responsibility of a church suicide bombing that left about 10 people dead.

Members of the sect have touched almost all sectors in the Nigeria polity with their bombings. The media has not been left out of their bombings.

The group is fighting for the enforcement of Islamic law called Sharia in Nigeria.
