The club of Nollywood practitioners yet again suffered another depletion two Thursdays back with the death of a make-up artiste cum production manager simply identified as Pamela. The deceased, who was well spoken of by industry insiders, reportedly slumped along Babs Animashaun Street out of exhaustion and by the time she was rushed to a nearby hospital, she had given up the ghost.

Findings by our correspondent revealed that the news of her death sent shock waves through the motion picture industry because she was likeable.

A source in the know of her death narrated her last hours thus:

"Pamela collapsed along Babs Animashaun in Surulere here, and later died. The painful thing was that she may have survived if help had reached her in good time. She left a filling station for home after she complained that she was tired but she didn't make it home.

"When she collapsed, people were afraid to touch her until a policeman helped but by the time she was taken to Ekemode Hospital along Bode Thomas Street, Surulere (Lagos), she was pronounced dead," the source said.

It was further gathered that when her GSM telephone was found on her, the police man called some numbers. The source said one of the first set of persons was Andy Amenechi and Don Pedro Obaseki. While Amenechi responded by calling other industry insiders like boss of Bandana Creations, a make-up artiste, Obaseki was said to have foot dragged.

Efforts to get official reactions to her death with the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) did not yield any result as his mobile line did not go through.

Meanwhile, the umbrella body of artistes in the country, AGN was yet to come out with any comment regarding the death of the lady who was described as one of the most senior make-up artistes in the industry. A couple of actors who we sought out declined to comment and insisted that only the president was competent to speak on the matter. Some of them however, spoke well of her.

Described as a "Likeable person" by movie director, Chima Okoroji, the deceased had years of experience as a make-up artiste who had worked with many directors including Don Pedro Obaseki and Andy Amenechi.
