African contemporary musician and 2007 AMEN Awards nominee, Jesse King, whose debut album entitled Buga is still rocking the airwaves, has described himself as a culture exponent.

Speaking with Entertainment Cafe at the Civic Centre, venue of the just concluded AMEN Awards, the musician said he wants to be regarded as a cultural icon, adding that his mission in the music industry is to revive the dying African culture in the lives of upcoming generation of musicians and that is why he wrote a special song to enlighten people on Yoruba cultural values.

“I want to give the African culture, especially the Yoruba culture, a facelift and that is why I also wear African attires whenever I am performing.

"I love the beads and cap is also traditional, while my lyrics are contemporary. All these project the African culture," he stated.

He, advised musicians to find a means of enlightening their fans through their type of music, while boasting that his next effort will be a super hit.

“Buga has given me fame and I am quite impressed with its financial reward,” he said.
