Insiders revealed that contrary to expectations, he no longer stays in a cell during the day.

'He is confined to a desk in one of the offices at the Homicide section, where he is held' a source quipped.

He reportedly started enjoying this privilege a week ago.

Findings revealed that the general believe at the station is that the 'heat' over his crime is off.

Further investigations revealed that among those fingered in Fabunmi's release plot is National Union of Road Transport Workers boss, Akanni Olohunwa.

Fabunmi is tagged the transport boss' point man in the police.

Their relationship reportedly date back to when Fabunmi was OC SARS-( in charge of the special anti robbery squad)

The position was said to give Fabunmi the perfect ploy to perform many favours for Olohunwa and his followers.

The relationship reportedly continued when Fabunmi became D.P.O Pen Cinema.

Olohunwa was said to have visited Fabunmi the second day he was arrested and detained- January 10.

Since then the transport boss- along with other top shots- had kept in touch with suspect.

Olohunwa was said to have made specially effort to make the detained police boss comfortable in custody.

The NURTW boss is said to have acted directly or through emissaries at different point in time.

Sources claimed there are strong indications releasing Fabunmi to go spend time at home with his family every night is without the knowledge of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the of the state criminal investigation department (SCID), Lagos.

Segun Fabunmi, a Divisional Police Officer reportedly shot to death a fuel subsidy removal protester on January 9 2012 in Ogba Lagos.

The furore over the incident and intervention by Governor Babatunde Fashola led to his arrest and detention.

The police authorities promised to investigate the case and deal with him accordingly- but that appear to be far from reality with news floating out.
