Players in the movie in industry in Nigeria called Nollywood are daily coming out to show their discontentment on the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.

During one of President Jonathan's visit to the Centre of Excellence, Lagos last year, he promised the entertainment industry and intervention fund of $200m. He was then an Acting President.

The kind gesture by Mr President was well cheered by those in the show-business with high hope. Heads have rolled and grasses suffer since its announcement. Those in the industry have by now lamenting of not getting any beneficiary of the fund.

Speaking at a rally yesterday in Lagos, former wife of one of the Abiola dynasty, Clarion Chukwuka, said that President Jonathan deceived them (Nollywood) with the Entertainment Intervention Fund of $200m.

In her words, “President Jonathan deceived us with the $200m just to get our support for his election. There is no $200m anywhere. There is no beneficiary of the money till now.”

There have been reports from stakeholders that there have been one or two people who have accessed the fund. In a town hall meeting held in Lagos recently, Mr Oronto Dougla said that there have been beneficiaries of the fund, a statement others oppose.
