BREAKING NEWS: Bomb Explosion Rocks Nigeria Police Hq In Abuja
Nigeria's federal capital, has been rocked by another bomb explosion following a blast at Louis Edet house, the National Police Force Headquarters, this morning. It is the second major blast in the city, less than a year following the devastating twin blasts of October 1st last year which left over 20 dead.
Information is still being gathered about the nature of the blast, but it is believed that it did not occur directly inside the Force headquarters building, but within the compound near an adjoining fence. The number of casualties is not yet clear. The explosion took place less than a mile away from the federal secretariat and National Assembly.
Heavy smoke has enveloped the entire area, but the Anti Bomb squad and civil defence took less than ten minutes to respond to the scene and cordon the perimeter. Ambulances have also rushed to the scene.
