WUNMI, STAR ACTRESS, RETURNS TO PRISON, CAN’T RAISE N1M FINE OPTION

Contrary to the wild jubilation that greeted Thursday court verdict on the detained popular actress Taiwo Akinwande (a.k.a. Wunmi), the woman is yet to regain freedom.

Saturday Tribune gathered that the N1 million option in lieu of the three years imprisonment could not be raised.

She was therefore returned to the prison where she would be until the amount is paid.

While filing this report, however, efforts were being made to raise the money to save the embattled actress from further incarceration, having been shut out of the world since September 2006.

Some of her colleagues who spoke with ST confirmed the development and gave hope that the money would be raised.

Wunmi, a prominent face in Nollywood, was sentenced last Thursday by a Federal High Court in Lagos to 3 years imprisonment for illegally exporting 1.214 kilograms of cocaine.

She however got an option of a N1 million fine that her associate were still trying to raise.
