It’s Not A Crime To Go On Okada – Mode 9

By Morakinyo Olugbiji

Nigeria's extraordinary lyricist, Bab atunde Olusegun, with the stage name, Mode 9 has maintained that a lot of the stories being spread about him were the handiwork of rumour mongers.

For sometime now, the rumour mills have been spreading the story that the Davinci Mode crooner, despite several hits, coupled with many awards, not to talk about his undisputable performances, has nothing to show, hence, his inability to own expensive cars as other musicians.

While his contemporaries such as MI and Ruggedman can boast of at least two high-class automobiles each, it is believed that Mode 9 still goes about the streets of Lagos on commercial motorcycle, popularly referred to as okada. As if that was not enough, they even claim that the multiple award winning lyricist still squats with a friend.

Angry at the brains behind such rumours when Entertainment News approached him for confirmation recently, Mode said.

“Why is it that you media guys always prefer to listen to rumours. My fans like my music, they don't care about what car I ride. There is no truth in that. It's nothing but a rumour as you have called it. Even if I go about on okada, is it a crime? I am not in the habit of bragging about what I have and what I don't. I just do my music to express myself, that's all. I am not even rapping because there is money to make from it.”

He once again reassured that the highly sensationalised story him and his colleague Ruggedman are as false as the rumour of riding about on okada or squatting with friends. “See, It's you guys trying to pair us together to create controversy, there is nothing like a problem between us. He is doing his music and I am doing mine,” he added.
