Yusuf Olatunji, Others Honoured
Alhaji Yusuf Olatunji and other pioneers of the contemporary Sakara music, were recently honoured in a new five-track album entitled Sakara Forever, by Lukman Babatunde Ajao a.k.a. At 40. Entertainment Cafe gathered that the new album, which will be launched on Sunday, 19 November at Goddis Garden and Bar, Ikeja, was produced to celebrate the acceptability of Sakara music.
Speaking with Entertainment Cafe, the artiste said he decided to immortalise the pioneers of the music in Omowunmi, the first track of his album, because he has come to modernise the music. He said: “Omowunmi, the first track of my album is to pay homage to the pioneers because my own kind of Sakara will be for both the young and the old through the introduction of saxophone, guitar, drum set and other instruments.” Other tracks of the album to be marketed by Alpha-Fortunes Music, include Black and Proud and Opo Marun, which highlights the dos and dont's of a devout Moslem.
