Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the nation's sole government approved copyright collective management organization for musical works and sound recordings, has thanked Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke SAN, Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation & Minister of Justice, for the thoroughness and maturity with which he handled the meeting between a delegation of COSON and that of the unapproved MCSN which held in his office on Thursday, September 2, 2010.

In a letter dated September 3, 2010 and signed by COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji, the society wrote, ''we understand the historic nature of the approval given to COSON and we are doing whatever is necessary to use the approval as a tool to unlock the huge potentials that exist in our industry for the progress of the stakeholders and the socio-economic growth of our nation''

At the meeting in the Attorney- General's Conference room which was also attended by the Director-General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission, Mr. Adebambo Adewopo and some of his top officers, the Attorney-General methodically reviewed the process leading to the approval of COSON and concluded that it was consistent with the law and national interest. He advised the members of MCSN to find accommodation within COSON as there were no plans presently to either revoke the COSON approval or to approve MCSN.

The six man COSON delegation to the meeting led by the Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji also had top singers, Ms. Onyeka Onwenu and Mr. Sunny Neji; ace producer, Mr. Laolu Akins; Singer and CEO of Riverdale Studios, Mr. Edward Jatto and renowned talent manager and CEO of NowMuzik, Mr. Efe Omorogbe.

The MCSN delegation was made up of Mr. Orits Wilki, Mr Mayo Ayilaran, Mr. George Dureke, Mr. Teemac Isele, Mr. Zeb Ejiro and a lawyer to MCSN.
