Basket Mouth rocks London with Lord of the Ribs

Basket Mouth, Nigeria's foremost comedian joined the list of who-is-who in world enetrainment to stage a show, Lord of the Ribs at the prestigious O2 Arena, in London. Madonna, Spice Girls, Kanye West, Sir Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Paul McCartney , Tom Jones, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, have all at one time or the other performed at 02 Arena. Even the late king of pop, Michael Jackson was to do his last concert there before death came calling.

Basket, as he is fondly called, last month rocked the entertainment scene in the city of London on Sunday February 21 as he became the second black comedian in the history of the prestigious hall whose show sold out . The 2,500 capacity hall was filled except that he had to reserve the mandatory 500 spaces in case of emergency and to fulfil the agreement in the insurance policy he bought for the show.

Basket Mouth is not the only person basking in the euphoria of the show as he had a contingent of Nigerian musicians and other notable comedians from UK on stage. 116 Squad opened the show with captivating music and were followed by the popular JJC group. Nigeria's big boy, Eldee took the floor next and after doing his thing and mesmerizing the crowd with his Today na Today hit track, Mr. Capable, Banky W followed. As one of the foremost RnB stars, he held his own and won not a few fans for his brand of blues. The black, short boy from Jos, M.I took the floor next with a blend of rap that confirmed the fact that Nigerian stars can hold their own outside of our shores . Ice Prince and Jesse Jagz also performed to please the crowd. The crowd went wild. Girls were ecstatic and the boys were no less pleased.

Basket Mouth, who was the man of the moment took over and was on stage for about one hour, thirty minutes. The jokes were fresh from his new collection. His story telling mixed with a large dose of comedy were to the point and the crowd appreciated him with a standing ovation. To cap the colourful night, MI, Banky W, Eldee the Don, Ice Prince and Jesse Jagz with Basket Mouth all sang a rap song together. For Basket Mouth who started his entertainment sojourn with rap music it was not just another performance but a nostalgic moment that almost brought him to tears.Eddy Kadi, the UK based foremost comedian who will be in Nigeria later in May or June for the Nigeria edition of Lord of the Ribs was the MC for the night.
