Comedian Baba Suwe In Ghastly Crash
Barely seven weeks after the death of his wife, popular comedian, Babatunde Omidina also known as Baba Suwe, narrowly escaped death yesterday when he was involved in a serious auto crash.
nfc learnt that Baba Suwe was on his way to a film location in Idiroko in the company of his younger brother when his car skidded off the road and somersaulted.
He was immediately rushed to Idiroko General Hospital where it was discovered that he sustained chest injury while his brother had a fractured leg.
They were later referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) where they are said to be responding to treatment.
The National President of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), Mr. Babajide Kosoko, confirmed the incident.
At the time of going to press,nfc learnt that ANTP members had besieged LUTH to offer their support and prayers.
Baba Suwe's wife and Nollywood actress, Mrs. Monsurat Omidina a.k.a. Omoladun Kenkelewu died early September 2009 at the Omidinas' Ikorodu home.
Investigations then revealed that the actress/comedian, who was hypertensive, was found dead in her bedroom with blood in her nose and ears.
Family sources disclosed that she had been sick for some time and was billed to visit the UK Consular Office the morning she died to obtain a visa to travel to UK for treatment.
Monsurat Omidina, 46, left behind two kids she had for Babatunde Omidina. She died five days after the burial of another Nollywood actress, Remi Abiola, who passed on in July, in the United States of America.
