Religious Leaders Benefit From Nigeria's Crisis – Spyro
Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known as Spyro, has accused religious leaders of benefiting from the country's insecurity.
Speaking in a recent interview on Wazobia FM Lagos, he called on clerics to speak up against insecurity and include the issue in their sermons.
Spyro also urged religious leaders to give their congregants proper electoral orientations. He lamented that they are not doing this because the more the country spoils, the more money they make. According to him, anywhere there is a crisis, the people who benefit the most are religious leaders.
The 'Who is your guy' crooner further called on Nigerians to hold all leaders accountable, including clerics.
He said:
"Nigerian religious leaders should speak up against insecurity. They should tell the people on how to secure themselves and include the issue of insecurity in their sermons. They should also give their congregants proper electoral orientations.
"Unfortunately, they are not doing that because the more the country is spoiling, the more money they make.
"Anywhere there is a crisis in a country, the people who benefit the most are religious leaders.
"We should make sure we hold all our leaders, including clerics, accountable."
