"Is This What You Promised Us" – Lateef Adedimeji Calls Out Government Over Oyo Abductions
Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has called out the Nigerian government over the recent abductions of teachers and children in Oyo.
Joining the number of celebrities who have lent their voice to the calls for freedom for those abducted, Lateef Adedimeji shared a tweet on his X handle, noting how many families were unable to celebrate Children's Day because their kids were kidnapped.
The husband of Mo Bimpe admitted that he understands the pain since he is a father, questioning if this was the plan of the government.
He further admonished the government to ensure that those held in captive are released.
He wrote:
"Before you sleep tonight, remember many families celebrated Children’s Day in pain, because their children are held up by kidnappers in places no one knows.
This is our reality. As a father, I know what this means. I’m asking our authorities, is this what you promised us? Are you able to celebrate Children’s Day with some of the children in pain? I’m just asking ni o.
You know what to do. Do it and get the kids back home. It’s the only honourable thing to do. Prove you have humanity in you. Do it. Do it now."
Recall that social media has been on fire following the news of the abductions of some students, parents and teacher in Oyo state.
The tragic incident was further compounded by the gruesome slaughter of a Mathematics teacher in Oyo State, identified as Michael Oyedokun.
