Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Njoku has advised celebrities and individuals with fame to ignore public perception and act right.

In a candid Instagram post, the movie star pointed out how fame brings public opinions into a person's life, adding that pressure to spend above one's means will come from the public.

Admonishing the public, she urged them to ignore the noise and focus on themselves, because once they encounter problems, they will be the only ones to face them.

According to her, no influential figure should allow public opinion to control their choices and decisions. She emphasized that the public is only concerned about themselves, not the public figure.

She wrote:
"When you have some fame + small money, the world suddenly starts deciding how you should live your life.

People will pressure you to spend above your means just to match their expectations of who they think you should be.

DON'T LET THEM!!!
The moment anything goes wrong and the light goes off, same people will TURN.

And you will be standing in the darkness ALONE.
Don’t let people pressure you into performing success instead of building stability.

Most people don’t actually want control of your life because they love you. They just enjoy having influence over it while sitting comfortably in their own homes, living however they choose, without your opinion affecting them. Don’t give up your REAL life for their amusement.
