Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham, has addressed critics of her decision to greet billionaire couple Razaq and Shade Okoya.

Toyin Abraham recently sparked immense conversations on social media during her attendance at the 70th birthday celebration of Debola Lagos’ father, where she knelt down to greet Razaq and Shade Okoya.

In a recent Instagram post, the movie star stated that she acknowledges the several opinions emanating from her recent action, leaving her in awe over the way people are gradually drifting from "our" culture and traditions.

She further emphasized that she was brought up to greet those older than her, and she would in no way change her values due to public opinions.

She wrote:
"I have seen the various opinions regarding the manner in which I greeted some elders at a recent event. It gives me pause to reflect on when we began to drift from our culture and traditions, to the point where kneeling as we were taught is now described as “abosi.”

I, Toyin Abraham Ajevemi, was raised to kneel when greeting those older than me. It is a value deeply rooted in who I am, and one I will continue to uphold with pride.
