Ckay Opens Up On Decision To Quit School For Music
Nigerian singer Chukwuka Ekweani, professionally known as CKay, has opened up on some of the drastic decision he made in the pursuit of his music career.
The 'Love Nwantinti' crooner, while seaking during a recent livestream with Carter Efe on Twitch, revealed that his parents were never in support of his career, leading him to leave home at the age of 19.
He further explained that he had to go through several challenges in the course of his musical pursuit, including quitting university in 100 level, in order to fully focus.
He said:
“My parents didn’t want me to do music so I ran away from home in Kaduna when I was 19.
“I came down to Lagos to chase my passion in music. When I arrived Lagos, I wrote a long letter and sent to my mum via Blackberry.
"Initially, I was staying with one of my friends. But after sometime, I got a one-room apartment. I was making money as a producer working with four different studios.
“At some point, I had to dropped out of university at just 100 level to focus on music."
