Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has mentioned the importance of Africans embracing their root and culture.

The controversial actor, who is a staunch advocate of African religion, maintained that in the process of adopting positive things from the Western culture –African identity must not be lost.

According to him, the African religion must not succumb to any other culture, stressing the importance of embracing the African tradition and religion, which he described as "our Identity."

He wrote:
"It’s ok to copy a few positive ways from Oyibo culture.

But we must never lose our African identity in the process.

We must never lose our African tradition or African religion.

Our identity is our power.
Be proudly and unapologetically African."
