Sarz Bemoans Poor Infrastructure Affecting Creatives
Nigerian producer and music executive, Osabuohien Osaretin, professionally known as Sarz, has bemoaned the poor infrastructure that has plagued Nigeria.
The award-winning producer, while speaking in an interview on the Afropolitan podcast, expressed his disdain with the infrastructure and amenities in Nigeria, particularly the poor power supply.
Speaking about his background, he revealed that since being born and bred in Nigeria, he has never witnessed stable power supply for 24 hours.
He stressed that the poor power supply affects creatives and those in the entertainment space, citing how he struggles to make music without power, and even the process of getting fuel comes with hitches or strike issues.
According to him, the creative space needs adequate provision of facilities to bring out their best, however, that cannot be achieved with the lack of basic infrastructure.
He said:
“I was born and raised in this country and I have never experienced electricity for 24 hours. There are times when I wake up feeling inspired and I want to create music but there is not light. Sometimes, even when you want to buy fuel, they will tell that there is a strike or scarcity. And then you end up doing not nothing and the potential just waste.
“As a creative person, you need to be mentally charged to perform at your best. So, when the infrastructure is lacking the moment you are mentally charged, it is a challenge."
