Hilda Baci, a popular Nigerian chef and two-time Guiness World Record holder, has shared that the pot mishap that occurred during her Guinness World Record feat for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice, was a blessing in disguise.

She made this known while speaking in a video interview shared on the popular microblogging platform, X formerly known as Twitter, explaining how the pot mishap brought fear upon her.

According to her, fear and worry gripped her immediately the leg of the pot gave way.

She however, clarified that the record was not the main deal for her, as she was focused on making sure that people got to taste the food she and her team had spent hours cooking.

She said:
“When we had the mishap with the pot, my first few seconds, my heart was in my hands. I was very scared, very worried.

“For me, the record was not the most important thing. It was important that people got to taste and enjoy the food we had spent hours making.

“I would say it was a good thing that the pot caved because it made food distribution a lot easier… it was a blessing in disguise."

Recall that The Nigerian Voice reported that Hilda Baci shook the internet on September 12, as she set out to cook the largest pot of jollof rice, in Lagos.

The attempt saw Hilda and her team cook close to 8,780 kilograms (about 19,356 pounds) of jollof rice in a six-metre-wide pot designed to hold 23,000 litres.

Surprisingly, all hell almost broke loose as during the process of weighing the pot by the crane following the completion of the cooking, one side of the pot gave way, however the food didn't spill.
