"Women Are Not Respected In The Music Industry" - Tems
Popular Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has spoken on the challenges faced by women in the music industry, and how she plans on combating it.
The Grammy-award-winning singer, while speaking in a recent interview with BBC, shared how her gender are not respected, but neglected and overlooked in the music industry, "People don’t really respect women in the [music] industry."
Making her stance known on the discrimination being meted at women, Tems stated that she wants to change how women see themselves in music through her new platform, The Leading Vibe Initiative, "to change the way women see themselves in music."
Sharing the goals of the initiative, she explained that it is aimed at positioning women properly for success, stating that it is for “a wider audience and success."
