Shallipopi Lashes Out At Organizers Of Headies Award, Promises To Snub Subsequent Editions

By Oluwarantimi Oludase

‎Popular Nigerian singer, Crown Uzama, professionally known as Shallipopi, has lashed out at the organizers of the Headies Awards, over the embarrassing moment that trailed him going up the stage to receive his award.

‎Recall that the Nigerian Voice reported that the award ceremony which was the 17th edition, was held on Sunday at the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos, with many celebrities in attendance.

‎Shallipopi, who was present alongside many other nominees, lost the Next Rated category to his colleague and rapper, Odumodublvck. However, the singer was later announced as the winner of the Best Rap Single of the Year for his song 'Cast'.

‎Surprisingly, as the singer mounted the stage to receive his award, he was greeted with a handshake instead of a plaque, which according to reports was down to the organizers being short on plaques.

‎Expressing his anger at the award organizers, the 'E Don Cast' crooner, via his X handle, vowed not to attend subsequent editions of the award ceremony.

‎He further added that he has never considered himself as a rapper, and the award of the rap category which he won, should have been given to the real rappers not him.

‎Shallipopi wrote on X:
‎"The next one if una see me make I bend.

‎“I nor go even lie for una sef, I nor want that award. Give the real rappers wey dey the category. Me, Shallipopi I nor be rapper."
