Social media was filled with celebratory messages on Sunday, after a report emerged that Toke Makinwa and her rumoured longtime friend, Farouk Umar were getting married secretly.

Recall that Toke Makinwa generated rumours after photos of her and Farouk Umar emerged, which she captioned with "thanksgiving ceremony." However, netizens interpreted it for a marriage ceremony, and begun congratulating her.

The rumour was further heightened by Nollywood actress and media personality Dorcas Shola Fapson, better known as Ms DSF, who claimed that Toke Makinwa and Farouk Umar were getting married.

Ms DSF has now clarified her claim, she stated that she was just joking, and bloggers easily took the lie.

Explaining this in a video message on Instagram, she said:

“Bloggers please, I’m just joking. They [Toke Makinwa and Farouk Umar] are not getting married. Toke is just doing thanksgiving for her birthday.”
