Youth Beat University Of Ibadan First Class Graduate To Death For Stealing Bread

Angry youth in Bayelsa state has reportedly beaten the University of Ibadan first-class graduate, Opuofoni Freeborn Ebimotimi, to death for allegedly stealing bread.

In a recent news report in Yenagoa, the killing of Ebimotimi over the crime of thievery was reported.

Enimotimi who bagged a first class degree in Business Administration was killed in his home town Korokorosei community in Southern Ijaw Local Government on Sunday at Honeyhill Tombia Bayelsa State.

After reportedly stealing bread, an angry mob broke into the scene to dehumanize him by mercilessly torturing him.

Opuofon Freeborn, the sister of the deceased said neighbors and friends who saw the incident rushed to the scene and pleaded with the angry youths to allow him to live, promising to pay for the bread in double folds, but the angry youths reportedly declined the plea and killed him.

According to Idisemi, life has been unfair to them since the demise of their father, adding that hunger led him to steal bread.

"We are seven in our family and life has been hard since our father died. I wrote WAEC in 2019 and have not been able to proceed to the University because of funds" Opuofon reported.
