Skales Reveals How Timaya Rescued Him When His Former Record Label Rendered Him Homeless
Skales, the Nigerian singer, recently opened up about his struggles during his time at the EME Record Label in an interview with Chude Jideonwo. Skales revealed that he was left homeless after the label evicted him from his rented house. At the time, he only had his Ford Explorer car, his studio, clothes, and shoes with him.
Skales acknowledged that he was making money at the time, but it was not enough to sustain him. He also mentioned that he lacked guidance and support, which made it difficult for him to cope. After being evicted, he hit the streets and slept in his car. Skales did not want to beg anyone for help, so he relied on his friends and drove to their homes after work. He only confided in one friend about his situation, and no one else knew what he was going through.
Fortunately, Timaya, another Nigerian musician, eventually found out about Skales' situation and offered him a place to stay. Timaya had a penthouse that he wasn't using and allowed Skales to move in. Skales was grateful for Timaya's help, and his living situation improved drastically.
Skales' story is a reminder that success in the music industry does not always translate to financial stability or a support system. It highlights the importance of having guidance, support, and a safety net to fall back on during tough times. Skales' resilience and determination to keep going despite his difficult circumstances are commendable.
