AY: I Was Happy When Basketmouth Called Me

By Agboola Ibrahim

Nigerian comedian AY has revived a dieing matter that has been on the lips of social media users for the past few days. He recounted how an old incident between himself and Basketmouth brought him overpowering elation.

AY revealed this in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, amidst his clash with his colleague Basketmouth.

Recall that the two former friends have been having unresolved wrangle for roughly 18 years. Their beef according to AY started over a N30,000 gig. AY also made the public to know that the beef was so severe that Basketmouth rejected him from his wedding.

However in the recent interview AY recounted how Basketmouth called him amidst their long feud. According to AY, he purchased a car for his wife some time back and shared it online.

However a few days after sharing the post, Basketmouth shared a post coincidentally condemning the showing off on social media. Becuase of the feud between the two colleagues, a lot of people assumed Basketmouth was throwing shade at AY.

Shortly afterwards, Basketmouth Called him to celebrate the feat and achievement. AY disclosed that he was so happy for the call because it was so rare that Basketmouth would bring himself too low to call anybody.

AY said;
“Something happened that never happened in the history of my knowing Bright Okpocha. Bright Okpocha would not bring himself on the level to apologise to you on anything.

“So, there was a post he made, about people showing off cars, people who just go online and show off stuff when they buy stuff and everything.

“Incidentally, I posted a ride I got my wife two days to that tweet, so people went on his page and were like, ‘Oh, this must be referring to AY’ and for the first time, Bright Okpocha, took his phone and called me. If you see how happy I was. Like he called me practically like, ‘guy, see wetin I dey hear o, people are relating what I posted to you, it has nothing to do with you.’

“I was very appreciative of the fact that the Master called, which is very rare, he will never stoop that low.

‘So, that the Master called, I was happy. My belief was that, that is now going to form the balance that I’ve been craving for us to have.”
