THE INTERNATIONAL DRINKS FESTIVAL KICKS OFF IN LAGOS

The International Drink Festival finally kicked off yesterday Friday 1st December 2017 with an educative summit directed at all issues regarding drinks.

Vendors and exhibitors from local and international drinks industry were present to showcase all types and flavors of drinks known in the world. From Remy martins, Ciroc, Jack Daniels, Maison Routin France to Drinks pro, Lomeedarfresh, Foodpro, Smoothly, Delight, Aquadana, Luxebar and Cocktails, to mention but a few.

Moderated by Andre Blaize, the first session of the summit had panelists Dr Patrick Ijewere, Dr Osas Olumesi and Mr Caleb Olumese discuss views on The General Human Well Being and Beverage Industry Personnel In Nigeria.

The second session had NAFDAC representative Mr Dodoyi Westa, LIRS representative Mr Orienru Ojetiri and FIRS representative Mr Ekechi CY discuss issues concerning The Tax System in the Beverage Industry. The panelists expressed concerns about heavy taxes in the food and beverage manufacturing sector and double taxes incurring on raw materials and finished products. Extortion and taxes were addressed as they are worlds apart. One of the speakers ended on the note, “Knowledge is power and we need to be able to distinguish between taxes, levies and fines. Tax rates are never as high as we think”.

The third and fourth session of the summit had discussions focused on The Regulation In The Beverage Industry with CEO Crown With Consult and Government’s Regulation On The Importance Of Wine And Drinks with Deputy Controller of Customs, Akindutuire John, Freight Forwarder, and Ms Riy. The last session of the summit had Paul Novak, Salim Adegunwa, and Ejike Abari speak on entertainment and beverages in the industry.
