In commemoration of this year's Global Hands Washing Day, little Miss Health, Queen Zikora Nez, has called on Nigerians to keep a healthy environment clean so as to combat disease in the country.

The 7 year old made the appeal yesterday when she visited Pupils of Rivers State Primary School Elelewon and Rivers State Primary School, Akapjo, respectively, just as she donated educational materials, hand washing sinks, among other things to the schools.

While welcoming the pupils back to school, the little queen noted that for the country to be devoid of any disease it behooves on all and sundry,she should first and foremost maintain personal hygiene through regular hand washing as that will go a long way in preventing communicable disease.

Receiving the items, elated Head Teacher of Rivers State Primary School, Elelenwo, Mrs Cecilia Samuel, thanked the little Zikora for her visit and her act of benevolence to the pupils, praying God to meet her at the point of her needs.

Global Hand Washing Day it must be stated is a day set aside to promote a global culture of handwashing with soap and raise awarness on benefit of hand washing.

More so, the Theme for 2017 Global Handwashing Day is "Our Hand, Our future" and its celebrated every October 15 since 2008 when it was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.

In the end, over 1000 children reaffirmed their commitment to keep a healthy environment as well as ensure they wash their hands regularly.
