By Iyabo Aina
A bible signed by Tupac Shakur during his time in prison is expected to fetch $54,000 at auction.
Recall that the Changes hit-maker served nine months at Clinton Correctional Facility in New York in 1995, after he was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse relating to a 1993 encounter with a woman in a Los Angeles hotel room.
He denied the charges, and was later released on bail while his lawyers appealed the case, but before regaining his freedom, 2Pac signed the inside of a Bible with his name and inmate number. •Tupac Prison Bible
A member of the hip-hop icon's family has since given the holy book to dealers at online auctioneers, Moments in Time, to sell with the Bible valued at $54,000.
According to TMZ.com, the executors of Shakur's estate have nothing to do with the auction, but will receive a chunk of funds from the Bible's sale.
Also, recall that the rapper's mother, Afeni Shakur, had been in charge of her son's assets since 1996, when he died from injuries sustained in a drive-by shooting, but she passed away on May,16, 2016 at the age of 69.
Tupac's estate is now said to be mainly run by Tom Whalley, a former CEO of Warner Bros. Records, who had worked with the late star in the past and was appointed trustee in 2013.
