What you don’t know about Ita Giwa and her Bakassi struggle

Senator Florence Ita Giwa, a former Presidential Adviser on National Assembly Matters and the leader of the Bakassi people is deeply in love with education and spends mind boggling millions in sponsoring over 13 children of Bakassi in tertiary institutions.

None of her adopted children are in public institutions but private, owing to the incessant strike actions experienced in recent years.

Two among these kids are in the Mines and Technology University in Ghana while others are at Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti and Babcock University. This is besides the fact that she is paying the examination fees of 41 children in the refugee camp.

We have also gathered that she treats these kids so specially like hers without discrimination.

Inasmuch as she derives pleasure in caring for these kids, the economic condition is biting her hard but has vowed to see them through their education and ensure they become useful to themselves and the society.

Perhaps she would have given up if not for her kind-hearted nature and belief in God to strengthen her to continue with her charity work and a determination to produce the next generation of well and adequately brought up children of Bakassi.

It is however pertinent to ask that if she had not adopted these kids many years ago, what could have been their fates?

It is indeed a difficult time for the former Presidential Adviser but we can authoritatively report that she is determined to finish what she has started knowing that her reward is in heaven.
