By Yaw Nketia

The Afro-Boat Party brought joy, happiness, love and fun to most of its revellers on the River Thames aboard the Royalty River Boat on the Saturday 30th July 2016 by courtesy of PM and G.A Entertainment .

Running consecutively into its third year, ‘The Afro-Boat Party’ is one of the latest parties making in-roads right on to the Ghanaian social event’s calendar in the United Kingdom.

Taking credits from its namesake, it is the only cruising party that plays Afro-beat to its core melodies and rhythms, thereby promoting its origins from the African Continent.

To mix and accommodate its various audiences, the party adds a session of Rhythm and Blues, making it as a party that is unique, wholesome, and that which stands the test of many dancing feet.

The Afro-Boat Party is a cruising entertainment hub that takes in major and landmark sights that London City has got to offer. So feasting your eyes on these places while still enjoying, is bespoke in itself.

This year’s version saw three wonderful performances from songwriter, singer and music producer K’adu, as well as Capo and Nana Skills.

These music talents combined to give very good accounts of their aims and ambitions as far as music is concerned.

On the back of hosting the ‘Ghana Party in the Park’ 2016, Clarke Pentoa as the MC, cranked up the night with his ultra –magnetic voice, style and delivery to the excitement of the revellers.

DJ Slim upped the ante on his own modalities according to his selection and mixing techniques, thereby giving flavour upon flavour to the party people.

DJ-PM decked the Afro- Boat Party on a different balance with his funk and pumped up session. In a statement he said: “This is the party that does not go down as people say, it rather floats up. We do this once a year and that is the last Saturday of July.

“It is a party that dwells on Afro-Beat and 90’s music so if you don’t like Afro-Beat then it might not be your thing, sorry to that.

“But I know this is the best thing that has happened to the Africans in the diaspora and it’s going to get better every year.”

As to food, Lady Vee made sure Jollof rice and chicken was on sight, while Leno, Cobe Scratch and K-Hi party the night away.
