AMAA begins screening of movies
The organizers of the annual Africa Movie Academy Awards-AMAA, has commenced the screening of movies for this year's edition. It would be recalled that the body of judges had earlier called for entries from Nigerian and African filmmakers with movies that have good stories and quality productions. The current stage of the screening exercise separately done by some renowned theatre arts lecturers and proven movie journalists selected from a few media houses, including The Sun, was completed over the weekend. At the rigorous exercise, movies from all parts of Africa were thoroughly screened in the areas that would be keenly contested at the awards proper.
The most recent exercise, which lasted for three days, is expected to continue in the next couple of weeks. AMAA is also expecting the arrival of some foreign judges, for the comprehensive screening of all the movies submitted. The academy of AMAA would make the final list and categories public at the end of the screening exercise. The glamourous event holds on Saturday, April 4, in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State, South-south, Nigeria, amid glitz and grandeur.
