I Never Wanted Burna Boy to Play Dancehall Music…Burna Boy’s Grandfather Speaks
Singer, Burna Boy, is indeed a proud singer to have his family give him strong backing in whatever he does as far as music is concern.
He might not have good media presence considering the various allegations that has trailed his career but despite all that, his grandfather, Pa Benson Idonije, sees the singer as one who has brought him joy despite kicking against his music career at first.
Pa Benson who is Nigeria's most revered music critic and first manager of Nigerian Afro-Beat legend, late Fela Anikulako Kuti, was recently celebrated and while speaking about Burna Boy, he stated that he is such a unique singer which is why he loves directing his live songs on stage.
According to him, 'Well, I feel great, especially when I see that he has talent and he is brilliant. He is unique from others, I think I feel good. At first, I didn't want him to play that kind of music, I wanted him to go to school but when he came out with the first single, I began to give him support. In fact, right now, I'm his director of music, when he plays life music, I direct the music. I get the artistes together to practice and back him up. So, I support him now. His own style is different.'
