I Washed Clothes For My Members And Hawk Bread - Prophet David Babalola

… Gives Out 5 Cars When He Has None

The old adage that 'wonders shall never end' may have gotten more apt in the life of the General Overseer and founder of His Presence Redemption Ministries, Lagos, Prophet David Babalola. The seer and pastor, who migrated from Islam to Christianity in 1993 and has since then started to make his mark in the ministry of the Lord, has shown to the world how a man of God can really be humble. This is to the extent that he had at one time or the other as the head of the fast growing church, washed clothes for his members. He recently gave out five cars to some members of his congregation while not having a car to himself.

The Prophet was quoted telling his congregation that he watched clothes for his members in other to feed and pay his bills. Not only that, he had also sold bread which he named Bread of Life. Though he wasn't the baker he buys and resells the loaves of bread to customers using his own brand name (label). It is in record that a lot of those that he did laundry for and patronized his Bread of Life are still members of his congregation. He did tell his people he also scavenges for living and was once a bus conductor.

Babalola told the media, “I did all that I Did so that I can buy my stuffs. I felt it would be improper as a man of God to solely rely on my members for my feeding, clothing and accommodation. I knew a lot of them have similar issues too. I was not ready to add to their problems.”

The man of God had once told the media that he was a load carrier at the Katangua market at Abule Egba, Lagos. He told the church how he used to trek from Shogunle to Oshodi to buy two cups of garri and in the process eat enough of the substance in the guise of tasting what he wants to purchase. He will then drink a sachet of water and be satisfied till next time. “It's all because I really couldn't afford buying what I want to eat,” he confessed.

According to a member of the church, David Babalola is a man sent by God. “I have not seen any man of God in Nigeria with the humbleness my pastor exhibits. He is a man who has and continues to deprive himself of some of the pleasures of life that most men of God all over the world would never hesitate to grab at. In short he could be called an Angel in human garb.”
