Barely few days that the circular banning marketers and distributors affiliated with the Yoruba Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association (YOVIFPMAN) operating from Arena in Oshodi and Idumota in lagos, from selling and distributing Bukola 'Apesin' Fagbuyi's new movie, SEKUNOLA, the film being marketed by Integrity Productions and Marketing company has sold out its first released batch of copies on Monday, 16th November 2015.

Meanwhile the attempt to outlaw Sekunola by the Idumota big boys may have nothing to do with the producer of the movie, Bukola. Inside source disclosed that the reason for the dismissal of Sekunola from the good book of Idumota is the long time hate the marketers association had against the CEO of Integrity Production, Busayo Odu.

According to the source, Busayo, an independent marketer has been asked to either join the powerful Idumota cartel and pay the usual fifteen thousand naira (N15, 000) dues for each film released or cough out a whooping one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) for same purpose. The Ibadan based movie marketer was quoted to have declined the proposal, hoping to be a solo marketer. Since then, Busayo and the Idumota marketers have never been good friends.

In a telephone interview Busayo told the magazine, “This is not the first time those running Idumota film marketers association would be stopping me from freely selling my movies. They did that to me when I came out with B'ogiri O Lanu some months ago. The information relayed to our men on the ground was not to sell our films because I refused to be part of them. This is not good for the movie industry in Nigeria.

"We should be allowed to operate a free market. Those who wish to be a member of any association must do that on their own freewill not by blackmail. They can't stop me and if they come for me on a personal ground I shall take them before the law. I am a law abiding citizen of Nigeria and should be allowed to live and work therein, as a free enterpreneur.”

However, before going to press, all attempt to get the response of the Idumota marketers failed, as the newly elected chairman of YOVIFPMAN, Alhaji Abdullahi Rasaq of Corporate Pictures would not pick his telephone calls nor send reply to a text message sent to his MTN number 080......94.
