Land Tussle: Lekki Free Trade Zone MD, Tajudeen Disu Is Dead

Following clash between Ibeju-Lekki residents and mobile police officers in Okunraiye community, Lagos, the fracas has reported resulted to the death of one Managing Director of the Lekki Free Zone Ltd, Mr.Tajudeen Disu.

Newstrack gathered from Okunraiye villages that the forceful evision of their land by the Lagos State Government on behalf of Africa's richest industrialist, Aliko Dangote and the Lekki Free Zone Ltd resulted in the clash when policemen attacked them reportedly killing two of the protesters instantly.

A local chief in the area said that the Lekki Free Zone Ltd called in anti-riot policemen of "Mopol 49" to kill the protesters because they had insisted too long ago against forceful acquisition of the community land by the Lekki Free Zone Ltd. for Dangote construction.

One of the police officers was also feared dead. The community has been taken over by soldiers reinforced to the community as the crisis escalated.

Akinwunmi Ambode, through his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna has confirmed the incident, noting that Disu who died in the fracas has been deposited at the Lagos State University Hospital.
