Court Jailed Housemaid For Stealing Underwear

A 20-year-old Housemaid simply identified as Vivian has been sentence to two months' imprisonment by the Igbosere Magistrates' Court for stealing her mistress' sets of underwear alongside other valuable.

It was gathered that mistress Bisi Awoniyi employed Vivian on a N20 000 per month salary bases with a day off work for a week but the mistress noted that on September 9, she left home to observe her one day off while carted aware some valuable.

According to Awoniyi account, while conducting a thorough search on Vivian's luggage for the first time as she set to observe her off-day, said, “I discovered my face towels, including several pieces of underwear and night wears. While checking the accused phone I also discovered that she had three different newly-opened bank accounts.

The matter was reported immediately to the Dolphin Police Station, Ikoyi, and Vivian was arrested.

The police obtained a search warrant on the house where the housemaid stayed, discovering more stolen items.
She was arraigned on one count of stealing.

The accused pleaded guilty and the magistrate, Mrs A.G, Omoyele, sentenced her to two months' imprisonment.
