A man identified as Ita Daniel, 71, has been paraded by police in Akwa Ibom State along with others for killing his wife with a machete.

It was gathered that Daniel, who hails from Mbi Okporo village in Nsit-Ibium Local Government of the state, killed his wife, Mrs. Alice Daniel, 60, while she was sleeping in her one-room apartment.

According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, (ACP) in-charge of the state Criminal Investigation Department, Mike Okoli, said the suspect had confessed to the crime and would soon be arraigned in court.

The 71-year-old man on his part, told newsmen that his wife was fond of bringing men to the house.

“Each time I complained, she beat me up. There was a day we had a disagreement and fight ensued in which she injured me. On that fateful day I was sleeping in the room when she came and said she would either kill me or I kill her; that is how it happened,'' he said.
