London African Film Festival at various locations
A ten-day celebration of African cinema is coming to the capital this winter as the London African Film Festival hits the capital.
Organised by the Royal African Society, Africa at the Pictures and the School of Oriental and African Studies, the event will showcase the work of some of the continent's best talent, both in front of the lens and behind it.
Productions such as Siliva the Zulu, Jim Comes to Joburg and Have You Seen My Drum Recently will demonstrate some of South Africa's most impressive cinematic figures.
There will also be work from countries across the continent, including an insight into the Nigerian movie industry, dubbed Nollywood.
Attendees can also look forward to an Abderahmanne Sissako retrospective ,along with animated features and a special focus on female filmmakers as well as musical performances and screen talks.
There may be popcorn at the event but visitors will need something more substantial than that to last the day and booking a suite at the luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace will provide all the sustenance needed.
By opting for the Dinner and Breakfast inclusive package, guests are treated to a full English breakfast in the morning as well as a two-course carvery dinner in the evening.
Alternatively, couples looking to get away for a few days can choose the Suite Dreams deal and enjoy chocolate-dipped strawberries, champagne and a three-course table d'hote dinner for two.
