Nigerian Court Judge Arrests American Woman for Pinging in Court Room
A Nigerian Federal High Court Judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, has jailed an American lady, Megan Chapman for operating her mobile phone while court proceedings were on.
The American woman who is the Co – Executive Director, Community Legal Support Initiative was locked up by the judge at the court's waiting cell for about 10 minutes, after an angry Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia walked her out.
Although she was later released after several plea by lawyers, Megan stated that she had learnt her lessons as she did not deliberately wanted to operate her phone but was attending to urgent message.
She said: “I was replying an urgent message. It was not like I intentionally disrespected the court but I have learnt my lessons. I have apologised to the court for my action. The prison officers were kind to and treated me well in the short period I was there.”
