I Pray To God To Withstand The Pressure In The House Of Assembly- Desmond Elliot
It has been a week since Nollywood star actor Desmond Elliot turned Honourable, although the hand over hasn't been official made.
But since the results that made him a House of Assembly member was announced, the actor cum director's joy knows no bounds. He tells anyone that cares to listen that he's looking forward to a successful tenure as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Desmond recently expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election, declaring that he feel he's a representation of the youths, a generation that wants the change the youths are clamouring for.
He said added, he prays that God would give me the strength to withstand the pressure when it comes, “because I know it's not going to be an easy task.
It's something I've been begging Him (God) for a long time and now the opportunity has come.So ,
with God's help and hard work, we will succeed.”
Continuing, the father of four promised that, “I look forward to a successful tenure, providing social amenities best way I can for my constituency: representing them well in the house and making sure that Nollywood which is also my constituency thrives as far as Lagos State is concerned.
I will still be making films, but not as an actor because I am representing people's interest.
I have to be very careful about what I do now,” he said.
Elliot contested for the Lagos State House Of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress,APC.
He is the only entertainer known to have successfully won any office contested for in Nigeria's 2015 general elections.
