As stakeholders in Nollywood call for the production of more indigenous Igbo language mov­ies, two prominent movie makers from the eastern part of the country are set to heat up Nollywood with an Igbo flick entitled, Primitive.

Entertainer caught up with the duo behind the project, Iyke Odife and his brother, Emmanuel Odife, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on the set of the flick and they opened up on the project.

Iyke Odife said: “Primitive is about the era when Nigeria was in the state of nature. A white man was sent by the colonial masters to establish a government in a town called Abame in the eastern part of Nigeria before amalgamation.

“It is the story of Eloka who is a wife batterer in Abame and his wife, Enuma, who has no one to run to. It is the story of Igwebuike who changed his name to Jerome, when he received Christ and now does not want to have anything to do with the community after having seven sets of twins which were all killed because of tradition.

“It is also the story of Ndudi, a wealthy son of the land, who tells Eloka to stop beating Enuma, his wife, or he will deny him yam seedlings for the new planting season.”

On his part, Emmanuel said: “Primi­tive is comic, entertaining and educa­tive. It is a flick that will revive the pro­duction of Igbo indigenous language movies.”

Primitive features Chioma Chukwu­ka-Aportha, Nnenna Nwabueze-Okon­ta, Amaka Anita Okeke, Diamond Okechi, Gloria Okafor, and Chioma Nwadike among a host of others.
