Why I Take Marijuana And Brandy—Blackface
One time member of the defunct Plantashun Boiz, Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo aka Blackface, in an interview with Sun newspaper, disclosed that he does not take drugs as some people might wonder, but explains that he tries to get familiar with his lines before going on stage.
The singer, like every other artistes, denied taking any form of stimulant before mounting the stage, but affirmed that he takes about two shots of brandy and weed (Marijuana) depending on the day's weather.
“What of brandy or weed?, he was asked when he said he does not take drugs to boost his performance on stage. Responding to the question, he said, “Not really, but when the weather is cold, I could take a shot or two but that does not mean I can't perform without taking brandy.”
The singer once claimed he co-wrote 2Face Idibia's hit song, 'African Queen', which was dropped in 2004, after 2Face also left Plantashun Boiz.
After the Plantashun Boiz split in 2004, Blackface pursued a solo music career. He released the hip hop album 'Ghetto Child' in May 2007, collaborating with a number of artists. The album contained 'Hard Life' which featured Alabai. He also recorded a full album for his crew D Tribunal called 'What We Are'.
After 'Ghetto Child', he released Evergreen, Jungle Fever, Me, Musiq and I, Dancehall Business and the prospective Defender. In 2013, he made a collaborative album 200 with Maine Eazz.
