My Kids Will Never Grow to Know Goldie…Denrele
Very early February 14th 2015, TV presenter, Denrele Edun, woke up to a surprise valentine gift from one of Nigeria's top banks and was in all jubilation as he wished his fans a happy valentine celebrations. He even went as far as dancing with some of his friends during the early hours.
As the day proceeds, little did his fans know that the VJ was only trying to control the emotions of his long lost friend and singer, Goldie Harvey who died in February 14, 2013 after a brief illness.
Denrele quietly drove off to the cemetery where the singer was buried and dropped flowers for the late singer, sitting by the tomb whispering some inspiring words to recall how they were together when she was alive.
In his words,
Gone......but where?
I can't call you on the phone,
I can't knock on your door,
No matter how loud I scream, you can't respond.
I held your hand as you took your last agonizing breath,
You fought with your heart and your soul,
You fought for me and defended me on countless occasions,
but you lost....we lost.
My kids will never know you;
how funny you were,
how generous you were,
how there was nothing that could stop you from giving me anything I was seeking and wanted (how you always knew what I was thinking still shocks me)...except this.
